Review Policy

Please Note: Thank you to everyone who has contacted us for a review. We wish we could read and review them all! Horror After Dark will be temporarily closing down submissions until we are able to catch up on review obligations. In the meantime, please visit our Horror Reviewer Directory where you can find a slew of amazing reviewer-types. If you have a new release coming in 2019, we are happy to promote your work on one of our new release posts. Please send a link to your book (Amazon/Goodreads/Author Page) via the email at
horrorafterdark@outlook.com.

Thank you for considering Horror After Dark as a resource to review and promote your work. We have a team of horror loving reviewers here at Horror After Dark who, as well as posting reviews on this website, will also promote your work through various social media outlets including Twitter and Instagram. This works best with hard copies but we understand that not all writers have paper ARC’s available and we do accept eARC’s on a limited basis. We are also open to author guest spots, giveaways and author interviews. We do not participate in book tours, cover reveals or book blitzes.

We are currently accepting HORROR fiction (paperbacks and Mobi ONLY) and horror audiobook requests. If your work is edited and fits within the horror genre we will consider it for review. Unfortunately, as much as we’d love to review every book submitted there aren’t enough hours in the day. We will do our best to promote your work on our new release page if we cannot fit it in the reading schedule. Please note, providing an ARC does not guarantee a review (if the reviewer cannot finish) nor does it guarantee a positive review. We believe in reviewing honestly here at Horror After Dark. We aim to be constructive and trustworthy as we work to promote the best of our favorite genre within the horror community.

Please send an email query to horrorafterdark@outlook.com with the title, author name, book blurb, release date, page count and the number of copies and format(s) available to our reviewers and we will get back to you with further details. If your book is accepted for review your review will be posted on Horror After Dark, Facebook, Goodreads, Amazon, Twitter, Instagram and on the reviewers individual blog (if applicable) . We will Tweet and create an Instagram story upon receipt of a hard copy to create buzz and may do so again while reading the book depending on time availability of the individual reviewer.

Please Note:

Your book may be read by one of our four reviewers. We all have different tastes and your book may be better suited for one of us more than another. This process also helps us accept more submissions and process more reviews.

Guest Reviews Are Welcome

Fill out this FORM to submit a guest review. Review must have original wording and cannot be a word for word cross-post from your personal blog. There are nerdy reasons for this. We will be glad to post your blog link but the content of the submitted review must be original or reworded from your blog post. Horror fiction only, please.

Authors please do not review your own work. You are welcome to submit an author piece or interview instead. You can do so by completing this FORM.

 *Disclaimer*

Horror After Dark purchases many books for reviewing. We do receive books to be reviewed by authors and publishers. This does not guarantee a review, nor does it necessitate a positive review. We do not receive payment for reviews. Honesty is our policy.

If any picture/image appearing on this site belongs to you and you would like it removed, please notify us in the comments and we will gladly remove it.

Horror After Dark is an affiliate of Amazon. By clicking on these links, purchases may provide HAD some spare change to keep the site running. Thank you for visiting!

I think that unless the first book in the series was already reviewed here, it would be a bit confusing to readers/reviewers to jump into book 2–especially if reading book 1 is necessary to the understanding of the second one.

    Hello,
Do you accept pieces of work that aren’t full novels? I have a novelette coming out soon and wanted to be sure before I send a request. Thanks!

    Happy Sunday HAD team!
I was wondering whether you would consider reviewing my story “Entombed”? I would be happy to send you a mobi doc to your kindle.
Looking forward to hearing from you,
    Regards Lily Lamb
